Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology in respect of RSA qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology respect of SA qualified employees. A Minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist: Neurophysiology in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Inherent requirements of the job: After-hours’ service is compulsory.
Competencies (knowledge/skills): Advanced knowledge of clinical neurology and the skill to work with paediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
Relevant experience in all aspects of clinical Neurophysiology.
Duties
Perform electroencephalographs on patients in a laboratory, ward and intensive care unit setting.
Perform nerve conduction studies on patients in a laboratory, ward and intensive care unit setting.
Perform evoked potentials on patients in a laboratory, ward and intensive care unit setting.
Perform overnight polysomnography, multiple sleep latency test and multiple wakefulness test.
Perform Intraoperative Monitoring for patients in Theatre.
Participate in Research projects.
Participate in on-going quality control and infection control.
Participate in training of Clinical Technology students.
Perform assigned administrative duties.
