Duties

Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impact on service delivery.

Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the relevant health facility.

To ensure that a comprehensive nursing treatment and care service is delivered to patients in a cost effective, efficient and equitable manner by the specialty Unit.

Ensure compliance to professional and ethical practice.

Coordination of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care provided within set standards and a professional / legal framework.

Manage effectively the utilization and supervision of resources.

Coordination of the provision of effective training and research.

Provision of effective support to Nursing services.

Maintain professional growth/ ethical standards and self- development.

Supervision over day-to-day operations of the unit.

Manage effective utilization and supervision of human, financial and material resources Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the scope of practice.

Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.

Promote nursing ethos and professionalism.

Involvement in the Hospital Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement programs.

Coordinate unit meetings and liaison with members of the multidisciplinary team.

Maintain a positive practice environment and participate in education and training of student nurses.
