Duties
Oversee and monitor supply chain, assets, logistics and transport management in the Department.
Manage demand and acquisition functions to ensure effective and efficient procurement of goods and services.
Ensure effective implementation and management of supply chain management functions in line with the National Treasury SCM framework.
Manage risks with regard to supply chain management in the Department to minimize risks and enhance performance with regard to supply chain management processes.
Manage logistics processes for effective and efficient payment of procured goods and services.
Manage assets and disposal processes in the Department.
Develop and implement sound supply chain management policies and procedures.
Monitor the implementation and application of the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) and Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (B-BBEE).
Respond to Auditor Generalβs audit queries on matters related to supply chain management.
Serve as a member of Bid Evaluation Committees and provide technical guidance and assistance to the Evaluation Committees, Specification Committees and Inter-Departmental Bid Committees.
Manage the resources of the Directorate to ensure proper functioning of the Directorate.

All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments.
One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidateβs suitability based on the postβs technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment, the logistics of which will be communicated by the Department.
Following the interview and the technical exercise, the selection committee will recommend the candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments).
The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools.
